Baked Donuts

I owe this post to Spanish Pinay who have been waiting for the recipe ever since I posted it on IG. Sorry it took this long, sis! Hehe.  I am going to share with you two recipes that I hope you will like. 🙂

Chocolate Donuts

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 cup  sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk*
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

*If you can’t find buttermilk in stores, just pour 2 1/4 teaspoons of lemon juice into 3/4 cup milk. Allow it to stand for 5-10 minutes until the milk curds. There’s your butter milk. 🙂

Directions:

  1. Stir dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Add egg buttermilk, vegetable oil and vanilla. Using a mixer on medium speed, blind until smooth. If you don’t have a mixer, fold in the ingredients together. Make sure you only fold 40 times otherwise, the donuts will be a little tough.
  2. Place the batter in a donut pan.
  3. Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees F. Bake the donuts for four to six minutes. To check if the donuts are done, stick a toothpick and if batter doesn’t stick on it, your donuts are done.

Cinnamon-sugar topping

  2. Put the freshly-baked donuts in the paper bag and shake, shake, shake!
  3. Serve warm with coffee, tea or milk for the kids.

Both recipes are from Baby Cakes. Enjoy!
